Vintage Japanese Tea Ceremony Ochakoboshi Kensui Drip Glaze Bowl Chinese Marked "Made in Japan"This is a vintage Japanese ceramic bowl known as a ochakoboshi (waster water bowl) used in a Japanese sado chado (tea ceremony). This vessel has a Japanese artist's seal imprinted on the bottom (see picture 8). It is a type of Kyo yaki kiyomizu yaki (made in Kyoto) tea bowl. This bowl has floral imagery, depicting the flower kiku (Chrysanthemum). During the tea ceremony the tea bowl is rinsed once to warm the bowl and another time to rinse it clean.
