From 1960 to 1968, he studied architecture at Gloucester College of Art. After graduating, he moved to Milan in 1970, where he worked as a design consultant for Olivetti and met Ettore Sottsass. In 1980, he founded the studio SowdenDesign together with the designer Nathalie du Pasquier, his future wife; the studio is still active today. A
