Germany, Imperial. A Pilot’s Badge, Sew-On Version, c. 1940 Republic of He died of his wounds(Flugzeugfhrerabzeichen). Constructed of silvered brass, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, surrounding a depiction of a monoplane flying over a rural landscape, perforated with eight eyelets for sew on attachment, unmarked, measuring 45. 15 mm (w) x 71. 46 mm (h), weighing 11. 2 grams, demonstrating all of the characteristics of late period veteran
