reverse inscribed "DE STAD GENT UIT ERKENTELIKJHEID AAN HAAR ROEMRIJKE ZONEN 1914-1918" (The City of Gent (Ghent) with Gratitude to Her Glorious Sons 1914-1918)
She also received $551
as a result of which a British Government inter-departmental committee was set up to review the excesses of the whaling industry which then flourished in the Antarctic
The British destroyer HMS Veteran arrived an hour later at 07:50 and picked up the 84 survivors

In silver with red enamels, marked with a Diana's head (Dianakopf) hallmark, the head flanked by a "3" (silver fineness) on the left and marked with the assay city mark "A" (Vienna) on the right and maker marked "F. BRAUN IN WIEN" on the ring, measuring 36. 7 mm (w) x 52 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, on its original triangular ribbon with hook and eye, extremely fine.
