Julien Auroux Bergerac Rouge 2021 asti and tarry earth linger throughNose of suede, brambly underbrush, rose petals, chalky clay, and black raspberry. The palate is surprisingly fruity, with leather and bergamot tea and dried rose and black pepper all wrapped in rich raspberry fruit. While tannins are there, they inform the velvety texture rather than define it. The finish is a mix of earth briar patch and rose garden. This is an easy choice for filet au poivre, mushroom stews, and duck.
