Instituted in 1847. In silver featuring a large cross with a secondary cross in each quadrant, red enameled with a mirrored reverse, with a crown suspension, measuring 46. 5 mm (w) x 76. 5 mm (h inclusive of crown suspension), with maker mark on suspension loop for Arthus Bertrand, also silver hallmarked on crown with boars head, accompanied by a black neck ribbon, enamel repair to both obverse and
