From around 1931 on wards Overhoff and Cie was still the principal maker of this SS buckle
refurbished by Panama Canal personnel and briefly placed in commission with the United States Navy as USSCallao (ID-4036) to bring service people home from Europe

A War Merit Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of FR KRIEGSVERDIENST 1939 (FOR WAR MERIT 1939), unmarked, measuring 32. 35 mm in diameter, weighing 13. 3 grams, in near mint condition. 2.
