The shoulders are flanked by boards constructed of white rayon with card stock cores
designated as the 3rd Canadian Infantry Battalion (48th Highlanders of Canada)
Germany, HJ. A Rare Gefolgschaftsfahne Flagpole Finial, by J.H. Schmidt & Söhne Hold and Major in 1884(HJ Fahnenspitze fr die Gefolgschaftsfahne). Constructed of aluminum, consisting of a bayonet with a blade fuller and hooked quillon, emanating from a hollow mounting bracket perforated with two eyelets for rivets to secure the finial to an accompanying flagpole, stamped with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code M3 27 for J. H. Schmidt & Shne, Iserlohn, measuring 36 cm in total length, demonstrating minor scratching throughout the base
