Vatican, Papal State. An Order of St. Gregory, Knight, for Civil Merit, c. 1930 Province of China with a paper maker’s label(Ordine di San Gregorio Magno). Instituted September 1 1831. Constructed of silver gilt, consisting of a Maltese Cross with ball finials, the obverse with a central blue enameled circular disc bearing the leftward facing bust of St. Gregory, circumscribed Gregorius Magnus in capitalized lettering, the reverse with a similar central blue enameled circular disc inscribed Pro Deo et Principe (For God and Ruler) in capitalized lettering, circumscribed
