This depiction of a "cannonball" about to splash down was first sketched by Melinda Buie in oil pastels; she then meticulously applied acrylic paint in layers before using turpentine to erase some of the original pastel marks, leaving sketched lines. Final flourishes in oil paint bring the piece to life. Gallery wrapped canvas with unfinished edges, it's signed on the back and ready to hang.
